Rolling V Ranch Water System Update
July 10, 2026
As residents are aware, the City of Rhome recently implemented emergency water restrictions due to system limitations at Walnut Creek SUD. Please follow the Walnut Creek SUD website and their system updates at this link: http://www.walnutcreeksud.org/www.walnutcreeksud.org for further updates. While Rolling V Ranch WCID No. 3 must continue to comply with these restrictions today, the District's new groundwater system remains a top priority and is nearing completion. This does not mean that watering restrictions will never be required, but it does bring significantly more water supply and water storage that the City of Rhome and Walnut Creek SUD do not have access to that will only benefit residents of Reunion and Bluestem served by this system.
Oncor has been the primary delay in bringing the system on line, but as of this morning Water Supply Plant #1 (Reunion) and Water Supply Plant #2 (Bluestem) both have permanent electric service as do 6 of the 8 water wells. The tank at Water Supply Plant #1 (Reunion) began filling today. Startup is anticipated to take several days, but the supply plant will begin serving the community as soon as possible. The Bluestem side has a direct connection from wells 3 and 4 that is being activated next week as well, and with that, both Reunion and Bluestem will be receiving incremental water from the groundwater system. Tank filling and start up for Water Supply Plant #2 (Bluestem) will commence after Water Supply Plant #1 (Reunion) is in service.
The District and the development team remain focused on completing this project as quickly and safely as possible. While the schedule and service disruptions are not acceptable this important investment in the community's long-term water supply is nearly complete. Additional updates will be provided as significant milestones are reached. As a reminder, residents in Aspire at Reunion (Phase 3) and the Hills at Reunion are served by the Newark water system and are not impacted by these water restrictions or the new improvements.
